Villa Lumia is situated in the heart of Ubud nestled among luscious green rice fields. It was built around 21st century Javanese jogolo so there is a perfect mix of modern architecture with a real classic Indonesian heart.
The first thing you think upon arriving is wow, I wish I had brought my whole family along! There is so much space and when you start to explore you will find: 4 beautifully designed double bedrooms each with their own view of the rice fields and vast grounds (so think of 11 people you would like to share with) A 6 Person Jacuzzi overhanging a river, Fully Equipped Fitness Center (if gyming is what you fancy doing, not for me! Although all made more pleasurable by a view of the rice fields), Billiard and Bar which is great for a group and an awesome TV Room.
Waking up at Villa Lumia starts with pulling back the curtains and marveling at the incredible surroundings, its rare these days to have such a view of untouched rice fields! But here at Villa Lumia you certainly have that. All the eye can see is workers tending their crops and beautiful Balinese women blessing their fields.
Next on the agenda, freshen up in the bathroom which is around the same size as many homes, where I am from… with a choice of large bath tub or a shower which also has a pretty damn good view.
Upon Coming down for Breakfast, it is already on the table! Made by one of the helpful and friendly staff who are always around if you need anything, say…that extra round of toast for example! There is dedicated team of 5 people looking after your wellbeing at all times.
So refreshing, starting the day feeling relaxed with only sound is that of nature and the smell of fresh coffee.
All too soon it is time to start the day, except you will probably not want to leave the villa. The 20 meters swimming pool is the perfect temperature and plenty of space to soak up the sun…tropical paradise.
Fully trained staff can visit the villa upon request to provide you a range of massages and treatments. There is a relaxing area dedicated solely for the therapists, to pamper you to your heart desire with a traditional Balinese massage, Acupressure, foot therapy or any other reflexology treatment available on the island. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, perhaps some morning yoga to get the blood flowing!
If you do decide to venture out you are only a few minutes from Ubud which is better known for its hippy, relaxed vibe. Ladened with an abundance of healthy restaurants, yoga studios and spiritual healers.
There are plenty of places to pick up a souvenir or gift with streets of shops, many selling goods from the region’s artisans.
Ubud is rich in culture and spiritual energy . Best on foot or by scooter. A few recommended must visits to eat would have be Locavore The foodie heaven in Ubud, this temple to locally sourced, ultra-creative foods with tasting menus and a serious wait list so book in advance. Although if you fancy something a bit more laid back then check out Alchemy, worth the trip alone for the tasty salad bar, delicious juices and must try raw desserts.
As the day draws to a close the sound of that pillowy bed with Egyptian cotton sheets is calling and then if you’re lucky enough you get to start all over again tomorrow.
