Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) is a world renowned space that showcases some international art but more specifically, Balinese art and cultural items. Located in the heart of Ubud, the museum plays host to many cultural events and has a team of staff that are very well versed in the history of the art.

The philosophy behind this ARMA is to challenge, inspire and broaden the minds of visitors to the museum. There is a very strong focus on not dismissing past history of art in Indonesia, but simultaneously looking into the future. The museum boasts multiple works by famous German artist Walter Spies and local talent, Javanese artist Raden Saleh.

The creator of the museum is Agung Rai and the way he lives his life is used as inspiration, as he exists in a very creative environment jam packed full of possibility and adventure. He has immersed himself in the culture of the Indonesian people as well as the country itself and his strong love for the arts has led him to where he is today and that is purely why ARMA exists.

The museum is a place that has much influence on the outside community, as it integrates its ideas with every day life. Agung Rai is a true leader who seeks to be make the world more harmonious through sharing art. ARMA values understanding the world’s differences and providing a place and the opportunity for artists to share their individual vision. People of diverse generations, cultures, ages, and backgrounds are all encouraged to visit ARMA to gain a greater understanding of Balinese and Indonesian art.

The grounds are serene; rice fields all around, traditional Balinese pavilions to rest in and beautiful gardens to take a stroll through. Admission costs 50k and the museum is open daily from 9am-6pm. If you would like to see a performance of some traditional Balinese dancing, then visit during 3-5pm Monday to Friday.
