Balinese ceremony: Melasti and Neypi

Hinduism has a vast spectrum of ideologies and traditions found in its varying regions of practise. Balinese Hinduism is, quite thankfully, an inescapable part of visiting the island. Displays of devotion and celebration are made frequently and publicly, allowing visitors a window into this mythical and inspiring religion.

Here, Melasti and Nyepi, the annual Balinese “Day of Silence” and its surrounding rituals are brought to life in powerful, white and yellow soaked imagery.

If your trip doesn’t align with this once a year masterpiece, rest assured you’re likely to catch a ceremony of some sort. They’re a pretty regular occurrence in Bali.
